In the next episode the show previews a new rivalry is shaping on Storage Wars Texas. It's between the "Out of Towner" New Yorker Victor Rjesnjansky and the "Good ol' Boys" from Big Ricky and Bubba Smith from Texas. They are expected to duke it out over lockers and create compelling drama for the next episode and throughout the first season.
I think this will be a good development for the show. Victor is arguably the most interesting character so far as an antagonist and it only makes sense for him to start up drama with the natives similar to how Dave Hester did it in the original Storage Wars.
This sequel is struggling to gain it's footing in the shadow of the ever popular original show, but this development should help solidify it's place in the Storage Wars family. Stay tuned for more Storage Wars: Texas news!

Storage Wars: Texas Off to Rough Start Despite Season Premiere Getting 4.1 Million Viewers
Storage Wars - Texas scored record ratings on it's season debut on 12/5/2011, however the reviews online have been very negative since. The 4.1 Million total viewers was a record for an A&E original series launch, but unfortunately it was a disappointment to loyal Storage Warriors that were raving fans of the original Storage Wars set in California.
This puts a lot of pressure on the next episode 2 tomorrow: "Bounty Hunter Bubba Fett." Will it be another flop? Will it surprise us? It's difficult to tell yet if A&E knows what they are doing with this new show or if they have grown too quickly for loyal fans to follow like many other reality show franchises have started declining this way.
One thing is for sure, the original Storage Wars is and continues to be a hit! Dan Dotson the auction man is the best auctioneer of all time, he should win an award. The characters continue to be compelling and addictive to watch. So far, this is what Storage Wars - Texas is missing, the "wow" factor if you will.
If I was one of the producers, I would introduce new characters, I would even have members of the California crew like Darrell Sheets and Dave Hester show up occasionally to mix it up. To keep viewers though, they need new characters. They need edgier, more interesting characters. Right now the show is just too bland and boring.
In fairness, it's hard to duplicate the success of Storage Wars to another city. Perhaps it's just the nature of the beast that the spin-off will never be as popular as the original. Whatever happens A&E, just don't forget the fans that have made Storage Wars the most popular auction show on television.

Victor "Out-of-Towner" Rjesnjansky in Video he made Before the Show!
victor rjesnjansky from Victor Rjenjansky on Vimeo.
Exclusive: Before the Show, Victor made this video featuring him looking at a storage locker he bought! Check it out!
This Storage Wars Texas bidder reminds me a bit of Dave Hester. He doesn't have a catch phrase like the signature "YUUUP" that dave sports, but he's edgy, has an attitude, and is ruthless in his bidding style just like the mogul. In episode 2 this week, Bounty Hunter Bubba Fett, he reportedly flips a locker for 20 times the price he purchased it for!
That kind of lick is what we're used to seeing from Mr. Dave Hester and hopefully this will be an exciting episode to watch. I think so far this character is my favorite character to hate just like Dave. He's from New Jersey. He has greasy hair, seems a little unsavory, and comes off as a jerk sometimes. Just what we need to stir up some drama in Storage Wars - Texas, the producers just have to push him to get a little more rowdy and we'll have a real show on our hands!
Is this Reviewer too Negative on Storage Wars Texas?
This reviewer of Storage Wars put this video up with his review basically bashing Storage Wars Texas and making fun of A&E for basically regurgitating the same concept in a different state similar to other popular reality shows that just start a spin-off in another city and add different characters.
While he does have some valid points and has some funny cartoon images he cuts to as to try and make his point in an amusing way, I believe he's much too hard on the network. I mean, it only makes sense after the humongous success of Storage Wars to make a spin-off. Since the original is in California, it only makes sense to put the next one in the next most populous state with new characters.
Bottom line, this will be a win for the network. While the characters do seem to come up short when compared to the original, there are some winners. Victor Rjesnjansky, the "Out of Towner" is entertaining and edgy. Ricky and Bubba Smith are good ol' boys from Texas that are very likable. Jerry Simpson is a the loveable assistant of thrift store owner Lesa Lewis. In my opinion the best so far is Moe Prigoff, he's also a collector like Barry Weiss and is also very interesting.
They have received record ratings for the premiere of Storage Wars Texas, but what's missing so far is the drama of the original. However, there has only been one episode so far and it could get more interesting as the characters do more auctions and create more interest. Whether you hate or love Dave Hester and his signature "YUUUP," Storage Wars Texas is missing that edge that Dave brings to the original and needs to find it in another character to hold the interest of its viewers.

Will Storage Wars Texas be as Good as the Original?
I just saw the premiere of new Storage Wars spin off - Storage Wars Texas and I thought I would post this review. I didn't really have high hopes for it as I'm a fan of the original with characters Dave Hester, Darrell Sheets, Jerrod and Brandy, Barry, and of course, Dan the Auction Man, the best in the business!

The new spinoff brings a whole new cast of characters:
Walt Cade - auctioneer
Moe "Fabulous" Prigoff - Texas version of Barry, a collector and gentleman
Lesa "Bring It" Lewis - Tough business owner
Jerry Simpson - works for Lesa at "Again and Again Resale" thrift store
Victor "Out-of-Towner" Rjesnjansky - from NY, suave, owns a consignment store and a revolving estate sale
Ricky Smith - Bubba's uncle, good ol' country boy gun slinger
Clinton "Bubba" Smith - Ricky's nephew, they work together running a successful warehouse.
The show started off the way you'd expect. They started off with the same intro music, similar graphics, and introduced the characters. Then they did their signature fly over of a storage locker lot and immediately cut to the auction action.
As far as the characters go they are less compelling than the original Storage Wars so far although perhaps the directors have something up their sleeve for the next few weeks. The auctioneer wasn't anything close to Dan Dotson with his lighting fast auction calling, but he does a good job. It's clear they tried to create a similar chemestry of characters like Moe who is like the Texas version of collector Barry Weiss, Lesa which is tough like Brandi Passante but she runs her own business. Then there's Ricky and Bubba which aren't very interesting to me and resemble Darrell Sheets and his son Brandon. Lastly, there is probably the most compelling character in my opinion, and that is Victor "Out-of-Towner" Rjesnjansky. He's originally from New York and moved to Texas. It's clear he's still suffering from culture shock and he says some entertaining things.
They need to make sure they bring new excitement with Storage Wars: Texas, otherwise it will not be popular. It's hard to judge this soon, but I think they need to introduce new characters to create new drama like Mark "Rico Suave" Balelo. This really made Storage Wars more interesting and added another layer to the characters.
